C.D.E.M.S. had an open weekend on the 19th & 20th of May and the sun shone for them. There was static displays in the hall, Scale model Traction Engine's in steam running around the grounds but the main event was the several outdoor tracks set in the rear woodlands at St. Peter St. Pauls School Hady. You could take a ride on the miniature steam engines as many times as you like and at 50p a ride it was well worth it.

Some of the detail and many many hours made these engines almost seem real. Some of them where no longer than 2ft in length but had no trouble pulling the driver and 4 or 5 adults round the tracks which included steep gradients, tunnels, stations, signals and bridges. There was 12 or more trains running at the same time sometimes causing a train jam!

With lengthy queues for most of the 2 days it was obvious that this open weekend was a hit with Mums, Dads, Grandma's and Grandad's and there was even some Children there!

The next open weekend is 1st & 2nd of September 2007  with free admission and parking.
